Bengaluru-based startup wins innovation award for 3D printing at CES 2018:

Ethereal Machines has become the only Indian company to win the `Best of Innovation' awards at CES 2018, the consumer electronics show in Las Vegas. The three-year-old Bengaluru-based startup won the award in the 3D printing category for creating a unique five-axis machine that does both additive (printing) and subtractive (cutting) manufacturing. While a three-axis machine is the most prevalent printing machine currently, a five-axis machine cuts across in more directions, but is normally bulky in weight and size. Ethereal Machines managed to compress it to a desktop-size machine that weighs 1.5 tonnes, and lets you both print and cut material. This technology is the first in the world, claims Kaushik Mudda, who started Ethereal Machines with his batchmate from RV College of Engineering, Bengaluru, Navin Jain in 2014.
