iOS 11
iOS 11.2 is now rolling out for all compatible iPhones, iPads and iPod touch devices. It is the seventh update to hit devices following the global rollout of iOS 11 a couple of months ago. Apple pushed iOS 11.2 ahead of schedule on December 2 to fix a bug that caused iPhones to crash and reboot after the clock struck 12:15am. Apart from this, the update brings some other bug fixes and improvements, and also introduces Apple Pay Cash and faster wireless charging on iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X, among other things.
It's safe to say that Apple's iOS 11 has been one of the buggiest updates ever pushed out by the company. Since its rollout, there have been a number of issues faced by iPhone users that included autocorrect bugs, display freeze and more. The Cupertino giant managed to quickly fix the latest Springboard bug with iOS 11.2 along with other fixes such as the autocorrect bug that cause "it" to automatically correct to "I.T", an issue that caused Settings to open a blank screen, one that prevented Music controls from displaying on the Lock Screen, fixes for Calendar, Calculator, keyboard, Mail and more.
The biggest highlights of iOS 11.2 is the introduction of Apple Pay Cash that will allow you to send and receive money from friends and family using Apple Pay in iMessage. This facility is only available for users in the US as of now. Apart from this, the update also brings faster 7.5W wireless charging support for iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X through Qi-based wireless charging pads. This should be a welcome improvement as many have criticised the new iPhones' slow wireless charging support.
iOS 11.2 also includes new live wallpapers and pop-ups that explain the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth buttons in the new Control Center. This was expected as you may recall reports earlier that found that toggling off the radios via the revamped Control Center would not completely disable them, but keep them active in the background to allow users to connect their iPhone or iPad for AirDrop, AirPlay, Apple Pencil, Apple Watch, Hotspot, among others. The pop-ups will now explain the change. iOS 11.2 has rolled out globally and we urge users to download the latest update, especially if they've found some of the bugs mentioned above
